2008 USA Junior Solo Bagpiping Competition
An Invitational Championship for young competitors who are US citizens and under the age of 18 years as of November 15, 2008.

Awards:
The Overall winner will receive a Clasp collection set of
McCallum bagpipes, donated by the maker.
Trophies will be awarded to the Overall, Piobaireachd, and
MSR event winners, and will become the property of the winners.
The Overall winner will receive two week's full scholarship
(room/board/tuition) to the
The MSR winner will receive one week's full scholarship

The Piobaireachd winner will receive one week's full
scholarship (room/board/tuition) to the
Medals will be awarded to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place
competitors.
The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Overall winners will receive one
week's tuition to the
The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Piobaireachd winners will each
receive a copy of the Kilberry Book of Ceol Mor, donated by Jim McIntosh,
M.B.E.
The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th MSR winners will each receive a
copy of the Scots Guards: Standard Settings of Pipe Music, volumes I or II,
donated by the Balmoral School of Piping.

US Junior Solo Bagpiping Championship Guidelines:
Light Music:
Each competitor for the light music competition shall submit two 2/4 competition marches, two competition strathspeys, two competition reels.
(All with a minimum of 4 parts). One of each to be nominated by the adjudicators at the time of performance.
Piobaireachd:
Each competitor shall submit two piobaireachd, one of which will be nominated by the adjudicators and the competitor notified in advance.
Code of conduct:
- All tunes shall be played from memory.
- Tutors are required to confirm that their pupil has reached a suitable standard.
- In the event of a tie, the outcome shall be dependent upon the competitor's final piobaireachd place.
- Entries must be received by October 6 and accompanied by the proper entry fee.
- Only the competitor and his/her tutor will be permitted in the tuning rooms. There will be no exceptions.
- Only the competitor may tune his/her pipes in the competition room.
- Competitor's badges showing order of play will be given when competitors report to the stewards.
- Competitors are reminded that they must wear Highland Dress, including a hat. No piper may compete unless dressed to the satisfaction of the stewards and competition committee.
- Alterations or alternative settings of tunes will not be accepted after the application deadline.
- The judges' decisions are final.

Balmoral School of Piping, The Balmoral Classic, its successors,

demands whatsoever for or on account of any actions or failures to act
or defects of any kind whether such acts or lack of acts or defects
have already occurred or may hereafter occur. It being the intent

had never entered the Balmoral Classic competition.
